Tend To Your Flame Today
Today is International Self-Care Day, and it arrives wrapped in fire— the New Moon in Leo is gracing the skies, asking us to remember our radiance.
Let me just say: self-care isn’t always cute. Sometimes it’s crying on the bathroom floor. Sometimes it’s finally washing the dishes after three days (or more) of surviving. Sometimes it’s saying no to someone you love because your body is screaming for stillness.
But, it’s all still magic.
And today? The magic is bold, personal, and heart-centered.
New Moon in Leo Energy
Leo is ruled by the Sun, but the New Moon is when the moon disappears from view.
Leo energy says:
I deserve joy.
I deserve to be seen and celebrated.
I get to take up space—even when I’m not performing.
I am not too much. I am me.
So let this New Moon be your reset. Not the kind where you pressure yourself to be better or do more—but the kind where you come home to yourself. Gently. Fiercely. And on your own damn terms.
Ways to Work This Magic
Here are a few ways I’m leaning into the portal of today’s energy. Feel free to borrow, adapt, or ignore:
• Candle Spell for Self-Love –
Dress a candle (gold, red, or white) with cinnamon or rosemary. Carve your name into it. Light it with the intention: “I call my energy back to me. I honor the fire within.”
• New Moon 3 Card Tarot Spread –
What part of me needs to be seen?
What’s been dimming my light?
How can I step more boldly into my truth?
• Write Yourself a Love Letter –
Make it cheesy. Make it weird. Cry halfway through writing it. Seal it with a kiss and place it on your altar for safekeeping.
• Cleanse & Claim Ritual –
Take a shower or bath and visualize all the energy you’ve absorbed from others sliding off of you. When you’re done, say out loud: “This is my body, my space, my energy. It belongs to me.”
• Rest as Spellwork –
Let yourself do nothing and call it sacred. Because it is.
A Gentle Reminder, From One Witch to Another
You don’t have to earn your rest.
You don’t have to explain your softness.
You don’t have to shrink, dim, disappear, or hold space for everyone else in order to be loved.
Your worth isn’t tied to your productivity, your appearance, or your usefulness.
You are a soul in a body, and that body is worthy of care—today and every day.
So if you’ve been needing a sign to come back to yourself… this is it.
Take the nap. Say no. Light the candle. Let something old die and something true begin.
The moon is new. The fire is yours. The magic is alive in you.
xoxo,
