Gentle Spring Equinox Rituals You Can Do Even When You’re Sad
I’ll admit, that New Moon in Pisces got me in my feels. That, along with current happenings in my personal life have really got me down in the dumps.
But I still wanted to honor the turning of the wheel of the year and the incoming Spring season. So I put together a list of some things I felt like I could manage while being low on energy.
Notice signs of Spring
Take a step outside or look out the window. What do you notice? Violets popping up in the yard? Shed pinecones on the ground? How is the earth beginning to awaken?
Sit in the sunlight
While you’re noticing the subtle signs of Spring, take a moment to soak up some rays. It doesn’t matter if you do this outdoors or through a window, just get a little sunshine on your skin.
Create a small Spring altar with found items
Got a cool rock? A feather you found? One of those fallen pinecones, perhaps? Gather a small collection of items that remind you of the longer days to come and arrange them on a shelf or table.
Light a candle
That’s it. Just light a candle. Any candle will do. Any color, scent, shape, etc., it doesn’t really matter.
Open a window
Let some of that fresh Spring air inside. (Of course, be cautious with allergies if you have them, maybe check the levels of your allergens on your local weather station beforehand!)
Reset/tidy up one area in your space
Sweep a little, dust off that mantle, maybe fold that laundry you’ve been putting off all week. It doesn’t have to be a major overhaul, but tidying up a little will create space for new energy to move in.
Start some seeds (literally or symbolically)
Plant some flowers, herbs, vegetables… or just some intentions.
Reflect on where you’ve been
How have you grown? What have you outgrown? What can you leave behind?
Visualize where you want to go
Where do you want to be a year from now? What does it feel like to be there? What actions can you take to start heading in that direction?
And that’s it. Your Equinox rituals don’t have to be big and performative unless you want them to be.
Happy Spring Equinox, everyone!!!
